Army looks for its first win of the season after the Black Knights fell to Fordham, 37-35, last week at Michie Stadium … The Black Knights were 4-8 last season in Jeff Monken’s first year at the helm … Army went 7-6 in 2010, capped by a win against SMU in the Armed Forces Bowl, but looks to snap a string of four straight losing seasons … The loss to Fordham was the Black Knights’ second straight setback to an FCS opponent after Army fell to Yale last season … Army has 10 returning starters from last season — five on offense and five on defense … The Black Knights went with QB Ahmad Bradshaw behind center … Bradshaw, who made his first career start, rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 107 yards and two more TDs against Fordham … The Black Knights struggled on special teams against Fordham as a snap on a punt formation sailed into the end zone for a safety, while Army lost possession on a muffed punt later in the game … LB Jeremy Timpf had a team-high nine tackles against Fordham while the Black Knights registered three sacks and six tackles against the Rams.

UConn turned in a solid across-the-board performance in its season-opener, a 20-15 win against a Villanova squad that was ranked No. 3 in the Football Championship Subdivision … The Huskies trailed 9-6 at halftime, but scored touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters to pull away … UConn had a 19-18 edge in first downs and a 307-303 margin in total offense … The offense was led by QB Bryant Shirreffs, a transfer from North Carolina State who threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns on 20 attempts in his first career start … RB Ron Johnson was the leading rusher with 69 yards and a touchdown on 23 attempts, while TE Tommy Myers had two catches for 83 yards and a touchdown … The Huskies’ defense was strong against a Villanova offense that featured the 2014 Walter Payton Award winner …DE Junior Joseph led the way with nine tackles, while LB Luke Carrezola had a breakout game with six tackles, two tackles for loss a sack and a fumble recovery … The win for UConn gave the Huskies their first season-opening victory since 2012 … A win against Army would give the Huskies a 2-0 start for the first time since 2008.
