The Game
Saturday’s game will be the first meeting on the gridiron between UConn and Missouri … The Huskies have won two of their last three matchups against SEC opponents, defeating South Carolina in the 2009 PapaJohns.com Bowl and Vanderbilt in the 2010 regular season … The Huskies fell 24-21 to Vanderbilt in the 2011 regular season. UConn is off to its first 2-0 start since the 2008 season, when the Huskies won their first five games of the year and finished 8-5 … UConn was a 20-15 winner against Villanova, which is ranked No. 3 in this week’s FCS poll, and took a 22-17 decision against Army last Saturday … The game at Missouri is the Huskies’ first road date of the season … Through two games, UConn ranks third in The American in both scoring defense (16.0 ppg) and total defense (284.0 ypg) … The top defensive player has been S Andrew Adams, who is second on the team with 11 tackles and has registered an interception in each of the first two games … Adams has an interception in four of UConn’s last five games, dating to last season … DE Folorunso Fatuksai has a team-high two sacks, while DE Junior Joseph leads the team with 14 tackles … UConn has received an offensive spark from QB Bryant Shirreffs, who has completed 68.9 percent of his passes (31 of 45) for 472 yards and two touchdowns and one interception … RB Ron Johnson has rushed for 108 yards and two TDs on 41 carries, while WR Noel Thomas has seven receptions for 122 yards.

The Game

The Game
Saturday’s game will be the first meeting in football between Temple and Massachusetts … Temple had a strong rivalry with the Minutemen in most other sports while the Owls competed in the Atlantic-10 Confernece … UMass replaced Temple as a football member in the Mid-American Conference when the Owls rejoined the Big East in 2012. Temple has looked impressive in its first two games as the Owls opened the 2015 season with a 27-10 win against Penn State followed by a 34-26 win against Cincinnati, which was the preseason favorite in the American Athletic Conference … Temple has won its first two games for the first time since the 2011 season, when the Owls finished 9-4 … The game against Massachusetts is the second of three straight road contests for Temple, which travels to Charlotte Oct. 2 … Temple has been led offensively by RB Jahad Thomas, who leads the nation in all-purpose yards (256.5 ypg) … Thomas leads The American in rushing with 328 yards and three touchdowns on 55 carries … QB P.J. The Game
Though Saturday’s game will be the first conference matchup between East Carolina and Navy, the schools have met four times previously as Navy holds a 3-1 series lead … The last meeting was in 2012, when the Midshipmen scored a 56-28 win in Greenville, North Carolina … The schools have split a pair of meetings in Annapolis.

East Carolina
East Carolina suffered its first loss of the season with a 31-24 setback at Florida last week … The Pirates opened the season with a 28-20 win against Towson … East Carolina held a 14-10 lead against Florida late into the third quarter before the Gators scored back-to-back touchdowns to take the lead for good ….The Pirates drove to the Gator 13-yard line in the final minute, bidding for the tying score, but a late turnover preserved Florida’s win … QB Blake Kemp has started both games and has thrown for 568 yards and three touchdowns with one interception … RB Chris Hairston has rushed for 169 yards and four TDs, while WR Isaiah Jones ranks fourth nationally in receptions (10.0 per game) and has 212 yards on 20 catches … LB Zeek Bigger paces the defense with 17 tackles, while LB Jordan Williams has team highs with two sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss … The Pirates have won five consecutive conference openers, all under head coach Ruffin McNeill … The game at Navy is part of a stretch in which East Carolina plays four road games in a five-game stretch.



Navy
Navy will play its first conference game in program history with the matchup against East Carolina … Navy played as an independent in football for the past 134 seasons … The Midshipmen opened their 2015 season with a 48-10 win against Colgate Sept. 5 … Navy rushed for 371 yards against the Raiders and had 438 yards of total offense … Navy ranked second nationally in rushing last year, averaging 325.4 rushing yards per game … The Midshipmen led the nation in fewest penalties per game in 2014 (2.54) and were flagged three times against Colgate … The offensive leader is QB Keenan Reynolds, who already holds the NCAA career record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback (65) … Reynolds needs 12 rushing TDs to tie the NCAA mark for all players, held by former Wisconsin running back Montee Ball (77) … Reynolds rushed for 1,191 yards and 23 TDs last year, while he threw for 843 yards and six touchdowns … FB Chris Swain rushed for a game-high 126 yards and a touchdown against Colgate, while FB Quentin Ezell had 44 yards and two rushing TDs against the Raiders … Navy’s three primary fullbacks — Swain, Ezell and FB Shawn White  weigh in at a combined 729 pounds.

Saturday’s game will be the 120th meeting between Cincinnati and Miami (Ohio) in a series that dates to 1888 … It is the second-oldest rivalry in FBS football, behind only Michigan-Notre Dame (1887) … The RedHawks lead the series, 59-53-7, but Cincinnati has won the last nine meetings, including a 31-24 decision last year at Paul Brown Stadium.

The Game
UCF and Furman have one prior meeting on the gridiron prior to Saturday’s game … UCF faced the Paladins as an NCAA Division II member in 1984 and fell, 42-6, in Greenville, South Carolina … The game will be the first of back-to-back games for UCF against teams from the state of South Carolina. UCF is off to an 0-2 start to the 2015 season, but recent history suggests that the Knights are more than capable of recovering … UCF dropped its first two games last season — to Penn State and Missouri — but rebounded to finish 9-4 and grab a share of the American Athletic Conference title … In 2005, UCF won the Conference USA East Division crown after an 0-2 start … In fact, UCF has started 0-2 five times, but finished with a winning record in four of those seasons … UCF has won 15 of its last 17 home games, but dropped a 15-14 decision to Florida International in its 2015 home opener …  The Knights fell to Stanford, 31-7, this past Saturday … UCF used three quarterbacks agianst the Cardinal as QB Justin Holman left the game in the first quarter with a hand injury … QB Bo Schneider was the first man off the bench and completed 7 of 19 passes for 46 yards, while QB Tyler Harris completed 7 of 15 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown … WR Jordan Akins has a team-high 14 receptions for 152 yards and two touchdowns … RB Taj McGowan rushed for 67 yards on 20 carries against Stanford in his collegiate debut.
