On Thursday, the No. 20/25 UConn and No. 24/NR USF women’s soccer teams will begin conference play in a match at Corbett Soccer Stadium in Tampa, Fla. The Huskies are coming off Sunday’s 1-0 win against Brown, while the Bulls fell to No. 17/14 Texas Tech in double overtime. In nonconference play this season UConn finished 8-1-0, only beaten by then-No. 19/20 Rutgers. Rutgers is the only top-25 team the Huskies have faced so far this year. The Bulls have faced two top-25 teams; Texas Tech and then-No. 11/8 Clemson. USF holds a 7-1-1 nonconference record; their only loss to Texas Tech, and only draw with Clemson.  The Bulls’ eight-game undefeated streak to start the season is the best start in the Denise Schilte-Brown era, and second best in school history.

The teams will go head-to-head for the first time since the 2014 American Athletic Conference Championship final, when their 0-0 (2OT) draw led to penalty kicks. The Huskies went on to claim the title after prevailing 3-2 in PKs. The teams also met during the 2014 regular season, at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium in Storrs, Conn. The Bulls were victorious on UConn’s home turf, defeating the Huskies 2-0. The all-time series is split between the teams, each with five wins and two ties (5-5-2).
Thursday’s game will be broadcast on The American Digital Network. The game will be free of charge and available on mobile, tablet and desktop devices as well as our Roku App.
