Saturday’s game will be the seventh meeting between Navy and UConn in a series that dates to 1975 … Navy is 6-1 all-time against the Huskies, though the schools have not met since 2006 … The only previous meeting at Pratt & Whitney Stadium was Navy’s 41-17 win in 2006 … UConn’s lone win was a 38-0 decision in Annapolis in 2002.

UConn was denied in its bid for a 3-0 start as No. 22/20 Missouri held on for a 9-6 win last Saturday … UConn defeated Villanova and Army to get off to its first 2-0 start since 2008 before falling to Missouri … Through three games, UConn leads The American in total defense (279.3 ypg), scoring defense (13.7 ppg) and pass efficiency defense (111.33) … The Huskies are 18th nationally in total defense … The Huskies have not allowed more than 17 points in a game this season … The top defensive player has been S Andrew Adams, who is second on the team with 17 tackles and has two interceptions … Adams has an interception in four of UConn’s last six games, dating to last season … DE Folorunso Fatuksai has a team-high 2.5 sacks, while DE Junior Joseph leads the team with 23 tackles … LB Luke Carrezola has a team-high 4.0 tackles for loss … QB Bryant Shirreffs has completed 67.8 percent of his passes (48 of 71) for 628 yards and two touchdowns and one interception … RB Ron Johnson has rushed for 131 yards and three TDs on 55 carries, while WR Noel Thomas has 14 receptions for 208 yards … The Huskies have scored on 8 of 9 red zone chances.

The Game
UCF and South Carolina have met four times prior to Saturday’s game … The Knights are looking for their first win against the Gamecocks … The last meeting was Sept. 28, 2013, when South Carolina was a 28-25 winner in what proved to be the only loss in UCF’s American Athletic Conference and Fiesta Bowl championship season.
