Women’s Soccer Weekly Honors Announced

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Four American Athletic Conference Players were honored with Player of the Week accolades for the third week of the 2015 women's soccer season. UCF junior forward Carol Rodrigues has been named Offensive Player of the Week, while Houston freshman Hayley Hubbard has been tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week.  Sophomore Kat Elliott from USF has been selected as the Goalkeeper of the Week. From Cincinnati, freshman Jordan Cotleur has been chosen as the Rookie of the Week.

Rodrigues tallied seven points over the weekend, with three goals and an assist. She netted both of UCF’s goals in the Knights’ 2-2 (2OT) tie at Ole Miss, with the tying goal in the 56th minute. In the match against Oklahoma State, the schools’ first meeting in program history, Rodrigues scored the game-tying goal in the 55th minute. She also assisted Ashley Spivey’s game-winning goal in the 61st minute, instead of taking a shot attempt herself. Rodrigues helped boost the Knights’ to a five game unbeaten streak, posting an overall record of 4-1-1.

Freshman defender Hubbard was the only Cougar to log all 90 minutes in the team’s 4-0 shutout victory over Incarnate Word, Houston’s first win of the season. She helped lead a defense that only allowed the Cardinals to total eight shots in the match, and Hubbard also assisted Selena Peters’ goal in the 67th minute.

Elliott, the Bulls’ sophomore goalkeeper, combined for 12 saves in 180:00 minutes of play and recorded two wins over the weekend. She allowed just one goal, and also registered five saves in USF’s 2-1 win over South Alabama. Elliott set a career-high record with seven saves in Sunday’s match against Troy, including a crucial save on a penalty kick that kept the Trojans off the board and secured her third shutout of the season.

Cotleur scored her first career goal in Cincinnati’s 2-1 win against Colorado College on Sunday. The freshman scored the game-tying goal in the 66th minute, evening the score at 1-1 and giving the Bearcats momentum in the second half.
