Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honors Announced

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Student-athletes from Houston, Tulsa, UCF, East Carolina and Cincinnati were the winners for the second week of conference honors in indoor track and field for the 2015-16 season.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE TRACK ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Cameron Burrell • Jr. • Houston • Houston, Texas
Burrell has earned Male Track Athlete of the Week honors after he recorded the best 60-meter dash time in the world this season, with a mark of 6.54 at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational on Jan. 15. The junior set a meet record, and greatly improved his time in the event from his last performance; a 6.70 second-place finish at the Reveille Invitational on Dec. 12.
 
Bryce Robinson • Sr. • Tulsa • Edmond, Okla.
Robinson has claimed Male Track Athlete of the Week honors after recording two top-five national times over the Hurricane’s past two meets. This past weekend at the Arkansas Invitational, the Edmond, Okla., native took first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.86. Robinson’s time in the 200-meter is No. 2 in the world and the best in the NCAA this season. The senior won the 60-meter dash final in 6.62 at the Bill Easton Classic on Jan. 8, beating his qualifying mark of 6.66. Robinson has the fifth-best time in the NCAA, while holding all top-five times in Tulsa history in the event.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Rosie Chamberlain • So. • UCF • Exeter, England
Chamberlain has been selected as the Female Track Athlete of the Week after her performance at the two-day Kentucky Invitational over the weekend. The sophomore took first at the meet in the 800-meter run, with a time of 2:08.94. She ranks fifth nationally and first in The American in the event. The product of Exeter, England, was also part of a distance medley relay squad that set a school record and placed second at the meet (11:32.85). The relay team holds the NCAA’s second fastest time.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Avion Jones • Sr. • East Carolina • Virginia Beach, Va.
Jones is the Male Field Athlete of the Week after he took first place and set an indoor school record in the men's high jump at the Dick Taylor Carolina Cup on Jan. 15, with a mark of 2.25 meters. The senior’s performance set the top mark in both the conference and NCAA in the high jump.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Loretta Blaut • RS-Fr. • Cincinnati • Cincinnati, Ohio
Blaut has been named the Female Athlete of the Week after she won the women’s high jump at the Kentucky Invitational on Jan. 16, with a mark of 1.86 meters. The freshman ranks first in The American and third in the NCAA in the event. Her mark is also tied for ninth best in the world this season.
