Cincinnati and East Carolina Claim Weekly Swimming & Diving Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s swimming and diving honors for the week ending Jan. 17.
        
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Chris Bready • So. • Cincinnati • Missouri City, Texas
Bready helped the Cincinnati men’s swimming and diving team finish runner-up at the Kenyon Invitational over the weekend. The sophomore swept the freestyle distance events, capturing the 1,000-yard and 500-yard with winning times of 9:23.34 and 4:34.89. Bready also placed third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.93.  
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE DIVER OF THE WEEK

Mullen swept the diving events in a dual meet win against Old Dominion on Saturday. In the 1-meter, the sophomore produced a winning score of 305.62 and won by 10-plus points in the 3-meter with a first-place score of 333.30.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Bailie Monhan • Sr. • East Carolina • Stafford, Va.
Monhan placed first in each of the four events she competed in against Old Dominion over the weekend. The native of Stafford, Va., helped the 200-yard medley relay team establish a pool record with a first-place time of 1:44.08. Monhan also swam the third leg of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team. Individually, the senior won the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly events with times of 56.46 and 2:02.62.  
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE DIVER OF THE WEEK
Ashley Sams • Jr. • East Carolina • Pittsburgh
Sams defeated the field in the diving events in the 178.5-115.5 win over Old Dominion on Saturday. The junior captured the top spot in the 1-meter event with a score of 230.55 and claimed the 3-meter with a final score of 260.70.
