Highlights

- UCF (7-5, 1-0) defeated East Carolina (8-6, 0-1), 71-68 at Minges Coliseum in the teams' conference opener. A.J. Davis led four players on the Knights in double figures with 23 points. Tanksley Efianayi added 12 points and six rebounds. Daiquan Walker finished with 11 points, three assists and three steals, and Adonys Henriquez chipped in 10 points. The Knights shot 80.8 percent from the free-throw line, making 21-of-26. Justin McBride grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and tallied three of the team's seven blocks. UCF had a 45-35 advantage in rebounds.

- East Carolina's B.J. Tyson finished with a team-high 17 points, followed by Caleb White with 16 points. Kentrell Barkley had 14 points and led the team with six rebounds. Prince Williams scored 11 points and led all players with seven assists. The Pirates finished the game shooting just 34.8 percent, while UCF posted a 44.2 field goal percentage after connecting on 55.2 percent of its second half attempts.

- No. 22/23 Cincinnati (11-4, 1-1) beat Tulsa (8-6, 0-2), 76-57 at Fifth Third Arena to earn its first conference win. Senior guard Farad Cobb was the Bearcats' only player to score in double figures, with a season-high 21 points. Sophomore forward Gary Clark grabbed 14 rebounds to match his season high. The Bearcats were able to hold Tulsa to 22 percent shooting in the first half, and 33.3 percent for the game. Cincinnati's bench outscored Tulsa's, 30-7.

- Senior Shaquille Harrison scored 21 points with a team-high six assists to lead Tulsa. Pat Birt followed with 13 points and a team-high six rebounds. The Hurricane narrowly outscored Cincinnati in the paint, 24-20. Tulsa shot 68 percent (14-21) from the free-throw line.

- RV/RV UConn (10-3, 1-0) held off Tulane (7-8, 0-2), 75-67 on Saturday in New Orleans. Rodney Purvis had 20 points for the Huskies, followed by Daniel Hamilton with 19 and a team-high nine rebounds. Sterling Gibbs tallied 16 points with eight boards and a game-high seven assists. Shonn Miller was the fourth Husky in double figures, adding 12 points.

- Louis Dabney finished with 14 points and Jernard Jarreau tallied 13 points, 5 blocks and 2 steals for Tulane. Dylan Osetkowski added 11 points and 9 rebounds while Malik Morgan had 10 points and seven boards. The Green Wave trailed by 19 early in the second half, but briefly took a 60-59 lead before one of Gibbs' four 3-pointers gave UConn the lead for good.

- Houston (12-2, 2-0) won its first game in Philadelphia since joining the American Athletic Conference, as it downed Temple (6-6, 1-1), 77-50 at the Liacouras Center. Rob Gray Jr., the only Cougar to score in double digits in every game in which he has played this season, led all players with 23 points. Ronnie Johnson finished with 17 points. Senior forward Devonta Pollard finished with 12 points and five rebounds, while senior guard LeRon Barnes topped all players with 13 rebounds. The Cougars outrebounded the Owls 41-30.

- Obi Enechionyia and Quenton DeCosey led the Owls with nine points apiece. DeCosey and Jaylen Bond led Temple with six rebounds each. The Owls outscored the Cougars in the paint, 34-32.


- No. 17/NR SMU (13-0, 2-0) beat USF (3-12, 0-2) 72-58 on Saturday night in head coach Larry Brown's first home game of the season. SMU, one of three unbeaten Division I teams along with No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 24 South Carolina, is off to the best start in school history with a 13-0 record. Nic Moore, Sterling Brown and Markus Kennedy each scored 13 points for the Mustangs. Ben Moore added 12 points, along with a team-high 10 rebounds. Jordan Tolbert also had 10 rebounds. The Mustangs shot 76.9 percent (20-26) from the free-throw line.

- Jahmal McMurray led USF with 17 points by going 7-of-16 from the field including three 3-pointers. Chris Perry and Bo Zeigler added 12 points each, while Perry also grabbed six rebounds and had a team-high four assists. Jaleel Cousins chipped in 10 points and a team-high eight boards. The Bulls shot 42.6 percent from the field, while holding SMU to a season-low 41.1 percent shooting.

- Memphis fell to No. 24/20 South Carolina, 86-76, at Colonial Life Arena. Ricky Tarrant Jr. scored a game-high 20 points, while Avery Woodson added 14. Shaq Goodwin  finished with 13 points, and Jeremiah Martin a career-high 10 points. Goodwin pulled down a team-high seven rebounds with Dedric Lawson leading the team with three blocked shots.
