Temple’s Coleman, USF’s McMurray Earn Men's Basketball Weekly Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The American Athletic Conference has announced winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for games ending Jan. 24. 

 
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Coleman had a game-high 23 points in 25 minutes off the bench Sunday in the Owls’ 89-80 win over eighth-ranked SMU. The senior shot a perfect 8-of-8 from the field, including 7-of-7 from beyond the arc, and tied the school record for 3-point percentage in a game set by Pepe Sanchez on Feb. 16, 1997. With the win, Temple moved to 5-2 in league play and into a tie for second place in American Athletic Conference standings.

McMurray scored a career-high 30 points to lead USF to its first conference win and first road win of the season at Houston on Saturday. The rookie scored 24 of his 30 points in the second half of Saturday’s game, including 12 in the final 5:16. He averaged 22.5 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds over the week while shooting 55-percent (6-of-11) from 3-point range and 90-percent (9-of-10) from the charity stripe.

Averaged a team-high 17.5 points while shooting 73.7 percent (14-of-19) from the field to go with 5.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week, matched his career-high with 18 points in Thursday’s win over Memphis

In wins over Tulane and Georgetown, Miller averaged 16.5 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 12-of-27 overall and 9-of-11 from the free-throw line
 
B.J. Tyson • So. • G • East Carolina
Led East Carolina to its first-ever road win over Memphis, matching his career-high with 26 points; averaged 21 points, five rebounds and four assists helping the Pirates split a pair of games
 
Trahson Burrell • Sr. • G • Memphis
Averaged 18.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists during a pair of games last week, shot 50 percent (14-of-28) from the field; scored a career-high 24 points vs. Cincinnati
 
James Woodard • Sr. • G • Tulsa
Averaged 20.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game in a 2-0 week for Tulsa with wins at East Carolina and over UCF
