Hearn and Laksa Garner Weekly Women’s Basketball Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Jan. 24.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ariel Hearn • Sr. • G • Memphis • Memphis, Tenn.



Hearn averaged 21.5 points, seven rebounds and four steals in a 2-0 week for the Tigers. The senior shot 47.1-percent from the floor and produced a total of eight steals in the two wins. Hearn powered Memphis to an 88-87 upset of No. 15 USF in overtime on Wednesday with a career-high 33 points and 10 rebounds. The Memphis, Tenn., product played all 45 minutes of the contest, and added six assists and five steals against the Bulls. Hearn concluded the week with 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals in a 69-58 road win against Tulsa on Saturday.    
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Kitija Laksa • Fr. • F • USF • Riga, Latvia



Laksa produced 24.5 points per game while connecting on 12-of-20 from 3-point territory in a 1-1 week for No. 15 USF. The Latvia native knocked down seven 3-pointers en route to a 29-point performance in an 88-49 win against UCF on Sunday. Laksa began the week with 20 points on 5-of-10 shooting from behind the arc against Memphis on Wednesday.

Produced 21 points per game, eight rebounds and five assists in two league games for No. 15 USF.
 
Kolby Morgan • So. • G • Tulane • New Orleans, La.
Averaged 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and three steals in two conference wins for NR/RV Tulane.
 
Ashley Clark • Sr. • G • Tulsa • Midwest City, Okla.
Registered 23.5 points per game on 59.4-percent shooting in two games, including a career-high 33 points against Houston.
