The American Today: Lewis Drains 3-Pointer to Lift UCF to a 75-74 Win

No. 1 UConn 83, Memphis 40
Five players reached double figures as the Huskies earned their 57th consecutive win with an 83-40 win against Memphis at the XL Center on Saturday afternoon. Breanna Stewart led the way with 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Moriah Jefferson scored 11 points and distributed seven assists while Katie Lou Samuelson added 13 points. The UConn defense forced 34 turnovers in the win. Mooriah Rowser led the Tigers with eight points while Brea Elmore pulled down a team-high six boards.       
 
UCF 75, Tulsa 74
Zykira Lewis drained a 3-pointer with eight second remaining on the game clock to lift UCF to a 75-74 win over Tulsa at the CFE Arena on Saturday. Lewis finished with a team-high 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor. Nyala Shuler posted her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds while Joslyn Massey scored 10 points and reeled in nine rebounds. The Knights shot 50-percent from the field and went 6-of-12 from behind the arc. Ashley Clark scored a team-high 32 points and recorded five rebounds for the Golden Hurricane. Kelsee Grovey added 17 points and two steals.    
 
Cincinnati 56, Houston 50
Cincinnati outlasted Houston, 56-50, on Saturday at Fifth Third Arena. In the fourth quarter, the Cougars came within two points, but a 6-2 surge over the final two minutes clinched the win for the Bearcats. Alyesha Lovett led the way with 18 points and seven rebounds. Jasmine Whitfield finished with 15 points and Ana Owens with 13 points to go with seven rebounds. Alecia Smith led Houston with 10 points while Serithia Hawkins grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds.  
 
Temple 83, East Carolina 63
Temple captured an 83-63 road win against East Carolina at Williams Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Owls outscored the Pirates, 47-23, between the second and third quarters to earn a lead they would not relinquish. Alliya Butts paced the team with 25 points and seven steals. Erica Covile scored 16 points and pulled in a team-high eight rebounds while Feyonda Fitzgerald finished with 11 points and as many assists.  I’Tiana Taylor produced her 12th double-double of the season (10 points, 13 rebounds) as four Pirates finished in double figures. DeVaughn Gray scored a team-high 14 points.
