UConn’s Breanna Stewart was chosen as the Ann Meyers Drysdale Women’s National Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday.
Stewart, who was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday, produced 19.5 points per game, 7.5 rebounds and six assists while connecting on 58.6-percent of her shots from the field in a 2-0 week for the top-ranked Huskies. The forward moved up to No. 3 on UConn's all-time scoring list with 2,182 career points, surpassing Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Nykesha Sales.
Stewart has averaged 22.2 points, eight rebounds and 4.7 assists as UConn is off to an 11-0 start to the 2015-16 season. The native of North Syracuse, N.Y., leads The American in 3-point percentage (.469) and blocked shots per game (2.8), and ranks second in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.4) and field goal percentage (.618).
