Women's Soccer: Weekly Honors Announced




PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer honors for the week ending Oct. 9.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Valerie Sanderson * Sr. * F * Memphis
Sanderson scored three goals and also recorded an assist over the weekend as the Tigers went 2-0-0 in play. She is now tied for the most career goals in program history (47).
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Tori Patterson * RS-Sr. * D * UConn
Patterson played all 200 minutes for the Huskies over the weekend. She anchored a defense that didn't allow a goal in UConn's two matches against RV/NR SMU and Houston.
 
Co-Goalkeeper of the Week
Maryse Bard-Martel * Sr. * Memphis
Bard-Martel recorded a combined 14 saves over the weekend. She posted her fourth shutout this season over East Carolina.

Co-Goalkeeper of the Week
Rebecca Defer * Jr. * Tulsa
Defer recorded a combined 15 saves in two matches for the Golden Hurricane, including nine against East Carolina. She had a 93.7 save percentage and a 0.5 goals-against average for the weekend.
 
Rookie of the Week
Valiree Morris * Fr. * F * Tulsa
Morris scored six points over the weekend as Tulsa won both its conference matches. She netted the game-winning goal in the matches.

Scored the lone goal in UCF's draw against 23/21USF

Emily Armstrong * Sr. * GK * UConn
Recorded eight total saves for the weekend including seven in the Huskies draw against RV/NR SMU

Erin Spillane * Fr. * F * UConn
Scored the game-winning goal against Houston
 
Olivia Gauthier * So. * D * Memphis
Anchored a defense that only allowed one goal in two matches.

Gudrun Sigurdardottir * Fr. * F * USF
Scored the lone goal in the Bulls draw against UCF
