Women's Volleyball: Bright and Heise take home weekly honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball honors for the week ending Oct. 16.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kia Bright • Jr. • OH • UCF
Bright led UCF to road wins against UConn and Temple posting double-doubles in both wins. The junior had 25 kills and 10 digs while hitting .367 in a five-set victory over the Owls for her 10th double-double of the season. Bright averaged 4.375 kills and 2.75 digs and hit .336 on the weekend.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Morgan Heise • Sr. • L • SMU
Heise anchored the defense for SMU as the Mustangs beat Tulsa and Memphis to stay on top of the standings with a 7-1 record. The senior averaged 6.71 digs per set in the two matches and posted 29 digs against Tulsa. Heise also finished with a perfect receiving percentage in 39 attempts and is the only player averaging more than five digs per set in conference play (5.09).
 
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL   
Jade Tingelhoff • So. • S • Cincinnati
Tingelhoff averaged 11.25 assists per set helping Cincinnati to wins over Houston and Tulane.  The sophomore led the team to a .471 attacking percentage against Houston, the highest for any Cincinnati team in a single match since 2003. Tingelhoff had 54 assists in the win against Tulane.
 
Ashley McRae • Sr. • MB • East Carolina
McRae led the Pirates to a 2-0 weekend against Tulane and Houston hitting .523 in the two matches, while compiling 26 kills. In the three set win over Houston, McRae hit .667 with only one error and 11 kills.
 
Summer Morgan • Sr. • MB • Memphis
Morgan tied a career-high with nine blocks to help Memphis earn its first conference win against Tulsa. Morgan added seven blocks in a loss to SMU.
 
Elyse Panick • Sr. • RS • USF
Panick helped USF earn road wins against Temple and UConn by leading the team in aces and blocks over the weekend. Against UConn, Panick finished with eight blocks, one shy of a career-high, and added 13 digs.
 
Katie Hegarty • RS • SMU                                                                                                
Hegarty averaged 4.43 kills per set and posted a double-double against Memphis with 12 kills and 10 digs as the Mustangs went 2-0 on the weekend. The senior also chipped in nine blocks in the two matches.
