Cross Country: Rotich and Rodriguez Sala take home weekly honors


 
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s cross country honors for the week ending Oct. 16.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Emmanuel Rotich • So. • Tulane
Rotich won the Men’s 8K White division individual title at the Pre-National meet at Indiana State, with a time of 24:36, almost 10 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. The sophomore bested runners from ranked teams, Ohio, Miami (Ohio) and fellow American school Cincinnati as well as other ranked teams.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Martina Rodriguez Sala • Sr. • Memphis
Rodriguez Sala finished third overall at the Alabama Crimson Classic with a time of 20:26. The senior took part in her first 6K race since last season’s American Championships and bested last year’s time by 10 seconds. Rodriguez Sala led Memphis to a top-ten finish ahead Southern Miss., UT-Martin and Houston as well as other ranked teams.
