PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer honors for the week ending Oct. 23.
Offensive Player of the Week
Elizabeth Woerner * So. * F * Memphis
Woerner played a role in all scoring plays in the Tigers victory at SMU. She scored two goals in the first five minutes and also had an assist on the final goal in the match.
Defensive Player of the Week
Vanessa Gilles * Jr. * D * Cincinnati
Gilles anchored a defense that shutout UCF on the road to lead to a 2-0 victory and the Bearcats eighth shutout of the year. She also scored a goal in the match and netted another against
RV/NR USF.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Maryse Bard-Martel * Sr. * Memphis
Bard-Martel allowed only one goal in two matches over the weekend. She made five saves in the Tigers match against SMU.
Rookie of the Week
Evelyne Viens * Fr. * F * USF
Viens scored both Bulls goals in their draw against Cincinnati. She also provided the assist on the equalizer in USF's match against East Carolina.
