PROVIDENCE, R.I. – East Carolina junior Lisa Pettersson was selected as the American Women's Golf Player of the Month for the month of September, the league announced on Tuesday.
Pettersson opened up the season with a pair of Top 5 finishes at the Minnesota Invitational and the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate. She tied her career-low 54-hole score of 214 (72-75-67) and finished third out of 96 golfers at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate, leading East Carolina to the team title. The Pirates finished 28 shots ahead of second-place Elon and captured back-to-back event titles for the first time since 2000-02. Earlier in the month, Pettersson ranked among tournament leaders in par-3 scoring (t2nd/3.00), par-5 scoring (1st/4.58) and total birdies (2nd/12) at the Minnesota Invitational.
