Penultimate Men's Soccer Honors Announced



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer honors for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 30.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Jackson Morse * Fr. * M * Memphis
Morse led Memphis in Saturday’s 2-0 win over RV/25 UConn. The midfielder scored both goals for the Tigers, which marked a new career-high for goals in a match for the rookie. He scored both goals on only two shots the entire match. Morse leads Memphis in goals with six on the year.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Liam McNally * Sr. * B * USF
McNally and the USF backline helped lead the Bulls to a 1-0 (2OT) shutout of SMU Saturday in Dallas. It marked the third consecutive shutout for USF. McNally also scored the golden goal in the victory over the Mustangs in the 103rd minute. It was the first goal of the year for McNally.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Jake Leeker * Jr. * Memphis
Leeker posted his sixth solo shutout of the season Saturday in a 2-0 shutout of RV/25 UConn. The junior made five saves against the Huskies to bring his season total to 71 stops. The 71 saves marks a new career-high in a season for Leeker.
 
Rookie of the Week
Matthew Puig * Fr. * F * Tulsa
Puig scored the game-winning goal for Tulsa in the Hurricane’s 3-1 win over Cincinnati Saturday at Gettler Stadium. The win pushed Tulsa to 10 points in conference play and second in the American Athletic Conference standings. Puig had three shots on goal in the match against the Bearcats.

Scored the game-winning goal in Temple’s 1-0 (OT) win over UCF
 
Ray Saari * Sr. * M * Tulsa
Led Tulsa with three points in Saturday’s 3-1 win at Cincinnati
