Women's Soccer: Three Teams Compete in the NCAA Tournament




Around the League:


- UConn, SMU and Memphis all received bids to the NCAA tournament. The Huskies will host Albany while Memphis travels to take on Arkansas and SMU travels to take on Oklahoma.

- UConn defeated SMU 1-0 in the conference championship to claim its second American tournament title. It was the first time the championship match was decided in regulation. The Huskies’ Rachel Hill was named Most Outstanding Offensive Player and Toriana Patterson won Most Outstanding Defensive player..

- SMU earns a berth in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2006. The Mustangs take on their second Big 12 opponent this season. SMU fell to TCU 1-0 in a double overtime match earlier this season

- Memphis travels to Arkansas to take on its second SEC opponent this season. The Tigers defeated then-ranked 19 Ole Miss 1-0 . The last NCAA tournament appearance for the Tigers was in 2011.

- UConn hosts Albany to open the NCAA tournament. This is the third consecutive NCAA first round match that UConn will host. The Huskies advanced past Siena, 5-0, in the first round at home in 2015 and shutout New Hampshire, 2-0, the year before again in Storrs. UConn is 16-6-1 in first round games and 11-4 in first round games played at home.
