USF, Tulsa Earn Bids to 2016 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – USF and Tulsa were selected for the 2016 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship, the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Committee announced on Monday.
 
The Bulls will open tournament play at home for the second consecutive season. USF, who was selected as an at-large team, welcomes in-state rival Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday, Nov. 17. The winner of the USF-FGCU match will face No. 9 overall seed North Carolina in second round action in Chapel Hill, N.C. Tulsa, the automatic qualifier from The American, takes on Creighton in first round action on Nov. 17. The winner of that match will travel to College Park, Maryland to face No. 1 overall seed Maryland in second round action.

The 48-team field is made up of the champions of 24 conferences, who qualified automatically, in addition to 24 teams that were selected at-large. The top 16 teams were all seeded and receive first round byes. All first-round games will be played Thursday, November 17, while all second-round action will take place Sunday, November 20. The third round will be played November 26, while the quarterfinals will be played December 2 and 4. The 2016 Men’s College Cup will be held December 9 and 11 at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.
