PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors for the 12th week of the 2016 college football season.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Will Worth • Sr. • QB • Navy • Valrico, Fla.
Worth rushed for 159 yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries and threw for 113 yards, completing 3 of 5 passes, to help Navy to a 66-31 win at East Carolina to clinch the West Division title. Worth registered his sixth consecutive game with at least 100 rushing yards, extended his streak to 10 straight games with a rushing touchdown and finished the game with 22 rushing TDs this season, tying Boise State running back Jeremy McNichols for the most in FBS football.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Steven Taylor • Sr. • LB • Houston • Cedar Hill, Texas
Taylor was also chosen as the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week after he had a game-high 14 tackles with 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble to lead Houston to a 36-10 win against No. 3/3 Louisville. Taylor led a Houston defense that set an American Athletic Conference record with 11 sacks and held the Cardinals to 39.6 points and 271 yards below their season averages.

Ty Cummings • Sr. • K • Houston • Southlake, Texas
Cummings scored 10 points in Houston’s 36-10 win against No. 3/3 Louisville as he connected on field goals of 33 and 46 yards and went 4-for-4 on PATs. Cummings also sent five of his seven kickoffs through the end zone for touchbacks, allowing the Cardinals to gain only 37 yards on two kickoff returns.

Completed 18 of 33 passes for 337 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-0 win against Tulane.
