PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors following the opening weekend of the 2016-17 men’s basketball season.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tacko Fall · So. · C · UCF · Dakar, Senegal
Fall averaged 17.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game as UCF went 3-1 on the week, including a runner-up finish at the Gildan Charleston Classic. Fall was named to the All-Tournament Team after recording a career-high 26 points against #rv/-- Mississippi State on Thursday and a 20-point, 13-rebound effort against No. 3/3 Villanova. In going 10-of-10 from the field against Villanova, Fall matched The American record for best field-goal percentage in a game (minimum 8 attempts). In his four games, Fall collected three double-doubles.

Da Silva averaged 12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as USF went 1-1. After an 11-point, nine-rebound game versus Elon, Da Silva added a season-best 13 points in the Bulls’ win over Rider.

Recorded double-doubles in all three of Memphis’ wins last week, averaging 21.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game. For his career, the sophomore now has 20 double-doubles.

Earned Hall of Fame Tip-Off All-Tournament Team honors after averaging 19.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks against No. 21/22 Rhode Island and Penn State. The lefty set career highs for points (23) and rebounds (17) in the two games at Mohegan Sun.
Semi Ojeleye · Jr. · F · SMU · Ottawa, Kan.
Ojeleye was named to the 2k Classic All-Tournament Team after leading the Mustangs in scoring in both games last week. Against #--/rv Pitt, Ojeleye posted 24 points and nine rebounds to lead all players.
Andre Washington · Gr. · C · East Carolina · Rocky Mount, Va.
Scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed a career-best 16 rebounds, while blocking six shots to help ECU defeat Stetson, 73-50, in the first game of the Savannah Invitational. Washington’s performance made him the first ECU player to register a 20-point, 15-rebound game since 2006.

Enechionyia posted a career-high 26 points at Massachusetts before following up the effort with 17 points against Manhattan. In three of his four games this season, Enechionyia has recorded 20 or more points.
