Women's Soccer: UConn's Emily Armstrong Named CoSIDA Academic All-American




On Tuesday, UConn's goalkeeper Emily Armstrong was named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-American First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The senior Curriculum & Instruction major joins three others on the first team with a 4.0 GPA.

As a member of the  all-conference first team and the American Goalkeeper of the Year , Armstrong played every minute of every match in the goal for the Huskies this season. She led the league with five shutouts in conference play and 11 total shutouts this season. She finished the season with 93 saves and 19 wins in goal for the Huskies.

Twenty-three of the 33 members of the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I women’s soccer teams have at least a 3.90 G.P.A., with 13 student-athletes sporting a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. The 11 members of the first team have an average G.P.A. of 3.90.
