PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball honors for the week ending Nov. 27.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kendall Patterson • Fr. • S • SMU
Patterson helped SMU to its second straight regular season conference championships averaging 12 assists per set in wins at Temple and UConn. The freshman was one shy of her season high with 53 assists against Temple and helped the Mustangs hit .342 as a team in both wins. Patterson also collected her 11
th double-double of the season with 43 assists and 11 digs against UConn.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kaylie McHugh • Fr. • L • Tulane
McHugh anchored the Green Wave defense averaging 6.44 digs per set as Tulane went 1-1 over the last weekend of the season. In a five-set match against USF, the freshman libero finished with a career-high and single match school record 37 digs. It was also the highest amount of digs in the American all season.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Jordan Thompson • So. • RS • Cincinnati
Thompson finished with 27 kills in a four-set win over Memphis and helped the Bearcats to a 2-0 weekend as Cincinnati earned an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament. The sophomore tied career-highs in blocks with six against East Carolina and aces with four against Memphis.
Clara Payne • RS-So. • MB • USF
Pyane led the Bulls in blocks, hitting percentage and points over the weekend as USF went 2-0 to finish the season. The sophomore hit. 426 with no errors including .467 against Houston and .406 in a 13-kill effort against Tulane. Pyane also had a career-high three solo blocks against Tulane.
Morgan Heise • Sr. • L • SMU
Heise led SMU with 4.88 digs per set over the weekend, including a 25 dig effort against UConn. The senior also had a perfect receiving percentage in 37 attempts. Heise anchored a defense that held Temple and UConn to a combined .199 attack percentage.
Izzy Rapacz • Jr. • OH/RS • Temple
Rapacz averaged a double-double with 14.5 kills and 13.5 digs, while hitting .442 from the outside as Temple finished the season 1-1. Against SMU, the junior finished with 16 kills and just two errors while hitting .609 and adding 11 digs. Rapacz finished with 30.5 points in the eight sets for the Owls.
Kyra Coundourides • Jr. • S • Temple
Coundourides averaged 12.25 assists per set for Temple, posting 49 assists in both matches over the weekend. The sophomore also finished with 10 digs against SMU and a team-high 17 digs against Tulsa.
