Ten student-athletes from the American Athletic Conference have been recognized for their performance on the football field and in the classroom with selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Football Teams.
The Academic All-District Teams are chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The 10 players from The American all move on to the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
Nominees must have achieved at least sophomore standing and a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 with legitimate athletic credentials.
UConn and Navy led The American contingent with three Academic All-District selections each. The Huskies had kicker Bobby Puyol, punter Justin Wain and defensive lineman Sean Marinan on the District 1 team. Navy placed quarterback Will Worth, offensive lineman Andrew Wood and punter Erik Harris on the District 2 squad.
Memphis had two players chosen to the District 3 team - tight end Daniel Montiel and kicker Jake Elliott.
Temple fullback Nick Sharga was chosen in District 2, East Carolina wide receiver Zay Jones was named in District 3, and Cincinnati offensive lineman Ryan Leahy was chosen in District 5.
