PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Commissioner Mike Aresco announced today the hiring of Eric Ziady as Chief Financial Officer of the American Athletic Conference. He will assume his new position on November 15, 2016.
With more than 25 years of financial and administrative experience, Ziady most recently served as the director of intercollegiate athletics and recreation services at the University of Delaware from 2012-15, overseeing 21 athletic programs.
“I am pleased to welcome Eric to our senior staff as our new Chief Financial Officer,” said Aresco. “He brings outstanding credentials and experience to this important position. Eric has a proven track record as a strong financial administrator and has a strong understanding of the collegiate landscape. He will serve our membership extraordinarily well.”
Ziady spent 14 years on the staff at Boston College. During his tenure with the Eagles, he served as senior associate athletic director (2010-12), associate athletic director for business operations (2004-10) and assistant athletic director (1998-2004) and oversaw long-range fiscal and strategic planning for the department as well as administering the day-to-day business and financial operations.
While at Delaware, Ziady helped spearhead the completion of a $25 million renovation and 18,000-square-foot-addition to the Carpenter Sports Building, a student recreation facility. Ziady also led fundraising efforts for the $2.5 million renovation and rededication of the baseball stadium.
Ziady began his career in athletic administration at Northeastern University, serving as assistant athletic director for finance and administration (1994-98) and athletics business manager (1991-94).
Ziady received a BA in political science with an emphasis in business studies from Providence College in 1988. He earned an MBA (1994) and an MA in sports management (1989) from Northeastern University.
He and his wife, Lauren, are the parents of three children, Matthew, Lindsey and Courtney.
