American Athletic Conference Announces Weekly Women’s Basketball Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 11.

 

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Napheesa Collier • So. • F • UConn
Sophomore forward Napheesa Collier averaged 21.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.5 blocks per game while shooting 70.8-percent (17-of-24) from the floor and 88.9-percent from the charity in a 2-0 week for the No. 1/2 Huskies, which included wins at No. 2/1 Notre Dame and Kansas State. Collier started the week with 20 points, to go along with five rebounds against the Irish on Wednesday. She followed that up with a 22-point, eight-rebound, five-block, six-steal effort in the win over Kansas State on Sunday. Collier has now scored at least 20 points in five out of the last six contests, including the last three consecutive games.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Jasmyne Harris • Fr. • G • Houston
Houston guard Jasmyne Harris paced the Cougars in two games last week averaging 13.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. She started the week with a 14 point, four rebound effort at Texas Tech on Wednesday. Harris posted her first career double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) in Sunday’s 53-51 comeback win over Rutgers. It marked her third consecutive double-digit scoring game.

Averaged 24.5 points, 5.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for Temple; made 13-of-14 shots (92.9-percent) from the free-throw line
 
Kolby Morgan • Jr. • G • Tulane
Averaged 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals over the week in games at Vanderbilt and LSU; scored a career-high 34 points vs. the Commodores
