PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the week of Dec. 12-18.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dedric Lawson · So. · F · Memphis · Memphis, Tenn.
Lawson collects weekly honors for the second consecutive week after notching back-to-back doubles for the Tigers, averaging 22.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game in the process. Lawson flirted with a triple double with 18 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists against Monmouth. In the Tigers’ overtime win at Oklahoma, Lawson played 43 of the game’s 45 minutes, finishing with 26 points and 12 rebounds. With nine double-doubles this season, Lawson is tied for the most in NCAA Division I.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jarron Cumberland · Fr. · G · Cincinnati · Wilmington, Ohio
Cumberland averaged a team-high 14.5 points last week, shooting 64.7 percent from the field and 70 percent from three-point range in a pair of Cincinnati wins. Against Texas Southern, Cumberland tallied a career-high 18 points and six rebounds, going 4-of-4 from three-point range. In the Bearcats’ record-setting win over Fairleigh Dickinson, Cumberland was one of seven Cincinnati players in double figures, finishing with 11 points and a career-high five assists.

Fall bookended his week with double-doubles, averaging 21.3 points and 11.3 rebounds over three games. The 7-foot-6 center had a career-best 31 points to go along with 10 boards against Miami (Ohio), two games after grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds to compliment 17 points versus Penn.

The senior notched a double-double in the Cougars’ 25-point win over UTRGV, finishing with a career-high 25 points and 10 rebounds. The double-double was Dotson’s third in his last four games and ninth with Houston.
Kentan Facey · Sr. · F · UConn · Trelawny, Jamaica
In UConn’s 80-59 victory over North Florida, Facey scored a career-best 20 points, finishing one rebound shy of a double-double.
Kevin Johnson · Sr. · G · Cincinnati · Cincinnati, Ohio
Johnson scored a career-high 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field with four three pointers and a trio of steals against Fairleigh Dickinson. On the week, Johnson averaged 14.0 points, scoring in double figures in both victories.
Jahmal McMurray · So. · G · USF · Topeka, Kan.
Playing his second and third games of the season, McMurray, averaged 22.5 points from the field. After posting 20 against Bethune-Cookman, McMurray scored 25 points and shot 5-of-7 from three-point range in a 77-66 loss to No. 16/15 South Carolina on Saturday.
