PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 18.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Feyonda Fitzgerald • Sr. • G • Temple
Senior Feyonda Fitzgerald led the Owls to a 2-0 week, which included an upset victory over No. 17/16 DePaul. The guard averaged 22.0 points, 3.5 assists, and 3.5 steals as Temple moved to 7-3 overall. In the 84-74 win over DePaul, Fitzgerald led all players with 25 points, adding four rebounds, and three assists. Closing the week with a win at Rutgers, she tallied 19 points, six steals and four assists, as Temple topped the Scarlet Knights for the first time in six years. In two games, Fitzgerald shot 47% (15-32) from the field, and her six steals at Rutgers tied a career-best.

Alexis Gaulden • Fr. • G • Tulsa
Freshman Alexis Gaulden led Tulsa in scoring against both Saint Louis and Little Rock last week, averaging 21.0 points per game. She had a career-high 23 points in a 70-64 win over Saint Louis on Thursday and followed up that performance with 19 points vs. Little Rock on Sunday. She shot 63-percent (17-of-27) from the field, including 57-percent (8-of-14) from 3-point range over the week. She also had four assists, two steals and two rebounds in the two contests.
