Editor's Note: Heading into the Holiday Season and the end of 2016 we thought it would be nice to look back at some of the best plays from the past year. We scoured through lots of video footage and came up with our "12 Plays of Christmas". Every day we will reveal a new play that we consider to be one of our best from the year. The list will end on Christmas Day.

Day Seven - Jump for Jones

It’s a bird…It’s a plane…It’s East Carolina high jumper Avion Jones.



At the 2016 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Jones jumped an NCAA-best 2.31 meters. To put the leap into perspective, the senior cleared the bar at a height taller than NBA Hall of Fame center Yao Ming.

Jones capped his college career with a fourth-place finish at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships and went on to make the finals of the United States Olympic Trials.
