Houston Sweeps American Weekly Men's Basketball Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The American Athletic Conference has announced winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for games ending Jan. 31.  


 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rob Gray, Jr. • So. • G • Houston


Gray averaged 23.5 points, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game in a 2-0 week for Houston. In an 81-66 win over Tulsa on Wednesday, the sophomore posted 16 points with a pair of shots from beyond the arc. In Saturday’s 97-93 double overtime win at East Carolina, Gray tied his career-high with 31 points and made a career-best six 3-pointers. He also set personal bests in field goals made (11), field goal attempts (21) and steals (4) vs. the Pirates.

Galen Robinson, Jr. • Fr. • G • Houston


Robinson helped Houston to a 2-0 record last week with wins against Tulsa and at East Carolina. He opened the week with a career-high 19 points and led all scorers in Wednesday’s win over the Hurricane. Robinson made 8-of-11 from the field and dished out four assists in the victory. He scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half versus East Carolina on Saturday and led the Cougars with seven assists.

Averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game on 50-percent (14-of-28) shooting in a 1-1 week; made a career-high eight field goals in Wednesday’s win over Temple

Scored a career-high 35 points on 15-of-23 shooting in a 97-86 win at UCF on Jan. 26; averaged 26.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals in a 1-1 week
 
Nic Moore • R-Sr. • G • SMU
Had a game-high 22 points in an 80-68 win over Memphis, SMU’s lone game of the week; shot 6-of-12 from the field vs. the Tigers and 7-of-9 from the free-throw line
 
Quenton DeCosey • Sr. • G • Temple
Averaged 22.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game for Temple last week; scored a career-high 30 points in a 70-63 win at USF on Sunday that included a career-outing at the charity stripe
