East Carolina’s Prince Williams is having a big year for the Pirates. The senior is averaging 9.4 points per game and leads the team in 3-point percentage (.421) and assists (3.9 per game). Williams is making it look easy this season, despite coming off an injury-riddled season as a junior, in which he only started one game.
“My sophomore season was pretty strong and then going in to my junior year I had a lot of bad days at practices and injuries, it was tough but I will be back this year.” Williams played in all 34 games as a sophomore and averaged 9.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists.
Williams has proven to be a true leader for the Pirates in the 2015-16 season. After losing six games straight, East Carolina had back-to-back big wins on the road at Memphis and then over Temple. In the win over the Tigers, it was Williams’ two free throws with 4.1 seconds to play that led the Pirates to the win. Against the Owls, Williams had a team-high 18 points in the 64-61 victory.
Williams is proving on the court what he said back in October at media day, “I think I have added a lot to my game you can expect a lot out of me this year.”
