PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The American Athletic Conference has announced winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for games ending Feb. 14.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Devonta Pollard • Sr. • F • Houston
Pollard helped Houston to a 2-0 week with wins over Memphis and UCF as the Cougars improved to 8-5 in league play. The senior averaged 25.0 points per game and finished second on the team in assists (2.5 per game) and free-throw percentage (.824, 14-of-17). Pollard scored a career-high 34 points in the win over the Tigers on Wednesday on 14-of-24 (.583) shooting from the field. His 14 field goals rank second highest in the American’s single-game record book.

Dedric Lawson • Fr. • F • Memphis
Lawson averaged a double-double for Memphis in a pair of road games last week, 22.5 points and 13.0 rebounds, to go along with 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. The freshman posted 20 or more points in each game and recorded his conference-leading 11th double-double in the process. Lawson was nearly perfect from the free-throw line and made 10-of-11 (.909) from the charity stripe.
