Stewart and Omokore Earn Weekly Women’s Basketball Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Feb. 14.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Breanna Stewart • Sr. • F • UConn • North Syracuse, N.Y.


Stewart averaged 24.5 points, nine rebounds, 5.5 blocks and 3.5 assists while shooting 55.6-percent from the floor during a 2-0 week for the top-ranked Huskies, which included a win at No. 2 South Carolina. The senior started the week with a 25-point, 10-rebound, and five-block performance in a 66-54 win over the Gamecocks in Columbia, S.C. Stewart played all 40-minutes and was 9-of-18 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from long range. The product of North Syracuse, N.Y., concluded the week with 24 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, six blocks and four steals in a league win against Temple on Sunday.  
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Tolulope Omokore • Fr. • F • UCF • Greenbelt, Md.


Omokore recorded 15.5 points per game on 50-percent shooting from the field and nine rebounds per contest in two league games for UCF. The forward produced her first career double-double with a team-high 13 points and 13 rebounds against Memphis on Wednesday. Omokore followed up her double-double performance with a career-high 18 points and five rebounds at Tulsa. The Greenbelt, Md., native shot 6-of-9 from the floor to go with a block and a steal against the Golden Hurricane.

Produced 27 points per game, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals as the Green Wave went 1-1 in league play.
