Tulsa's James Woodard

At first glance, Tulsa guard James Woodard may look like a laid back guy. Put him on the court and he becomes a fierce, knock-down shooter.

“He is a sniper on the court,” said head coach Frank Haith. “He is very composed. You would never know if he was having a rough game by his body language, which I love about him as a player.”

Woodard’s style of play has translated well this season as he ranks amongst The American leaders in 3-pointers (3rd, 2.5), points (4th, 15.9)  and minutes per game (4th, 33.9). The senior gives credit to his teammates and coaching staff for putting him in the position to be a play maker.

“Have to give credit to my teammates,” said Woodard. “Shaq sets me up all the time. The coaches have given me that role to make shots and make plays. They trust in me.”

The Preseason All-Conference First Team selection has helped guide Tulsa to a 16-9 overall record. The Golden Hurricane is currently sixth in the conference standings with only three losses separating spots one through six. Woodard and Tulsa host Cincinnati this evening at 9 p.m. ET (CBSSN).
