The American Today: No. 1 UConn Clinched Share of the Regular-Season Title

No. 1 UConn 84, East Carolina 41
No. 1 UConn clinched at least a share of the American Athletic Conference regular -season title with an 84-41 win against East Carolina on Saturday. Breanna Stewart nearly missed a triple-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks in 25 minutes. Stewart moved into second place on the program’s career blocks list. Katie Lou Samuelson scored a team-high 19 points, including four 3-pointers. I’Tiana Taylor led the Pirates with 12 points and nine rebounds. Marina Laramie grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.   
 
UCF 66, SMU 54
Freshman Tolulope Omokore and junior Zykira Lewis lifted UCF over SMU, 66-54, on Saturday at CFE Arena. Omokore grabbed a game-high 20 rebounds and scored 11 points in the win. Lewis finished with a game-high 21 points to move into top five of the program’s career scoring list. The Mustang offense was paced by 13 points from McKenzie Adams. Alicia Froling registered 11 points and pulled down six rebounds. 
 
Cincinnati 67, Houston 61
Cincinnati snapped a five-game skid with a 67-61 win against Houston on Saturday inside Hofheinz Pavilion. Jasmine Whitfield posted a double-double with a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bearcats. Alyesha Lovett recorded 14 points and seven rebounds, while Ana Owens added 11 points. Marche’ Amerson led three Cougars in double digits with 13 points to go with seven rebounds. Jessieka Palmer scored 11 points and added five rebounds.   
 
Tulane 61, Tulsa 42
Tulane utilized a strong second quarter to defeat Tulsa, 61-42, on Saturday afternoon. The Green Wave scored 24 points in the second stanza to take a 32-20 lead into halftime. Sophomore Kolby Morgan produced her ninth 20-plus scoring performance of the season with 20 points and nine rebounds in the win. Leslie Vorpahl produced 10 points and distributed four assists. Sophomore Jordyn Holmes led the Golden Hurricane with a season-high 14 points. Senior Ashley Clark added 11 points and two blocks.
