Tulsa Sweeps Weekly Softball Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending Feb. 21.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Maddie Withee • OF • Jr. • Tulsa • Arlington, Texas
Withee has claimed Player of the Week honors after she hit .450 with 11 RBIs to lead Tulsa to a 5-0 weekend at the UTSA Classic in San Antonio, Texas. The junior went 9-for-20 at the plate, with a .650 slugging percentage and .450 on-base percentage. Withee had three multi-hit games, as she went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a home run vs. Virginia, and then went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a run against North Dakota. She was 2-for-4 with two RBIs against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and then doubled home three runs vs. UTSA on Saturday. On Sunday, she singled and had an RBI against UTSA.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Emily Watson • So. • Tulsa • Edmond, Okla.
Watson has been selected as Pitcher of the Week after she went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and tied the Tulsa single-game strikeout record, to lead the Golden Hurricane to a 5-0 week at the UTSA Classic. On Saturday against UTSA, the sophomore struck out 17 batters in a 7.0-inning, two-hit, one-walk complete game. On Friday, Watson struck out nine batters in a 5.0-inning shutout win over North Dakota. She averaged 2.7 strikeouts per inning, and 26 of the 36 outs recorded in her two outings were by strikeout.
 
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Autumn Gillespie • C • Fr. • UCF • Redlands, Calif.
Hit .500 as she recorded nine hits in 18 at bats, with a .722 slugging percentage. Gillespie notched four RBIs, a double and a home run over six games.
 
Jill Stockley • P • Fr. • UConn • Longmeadow, Mass.
Went 1-1 with a 0.00 ERA and eight strikeouts in 13 innings in the circle at the FAU Tournament.
 
Lydia Ritchie • P • Jr. • East Carolina • Pikeville, Tenn.
Compiled a 2-0 record and 1.38 ERA in 20.1 innings pitched at the Pirate Clash. Ritchie struck out 13 batters in six appearances and held opponents to two hits or less in four of her outings.
 
Presley Bell • P • Fr. • Houston • Liberty, Texas
Picked up her second win of the season, as she pitched her second complete game shutout of the year. In Houston’s 8-0 win over Toledo she allowed only three hits and struck out a season-best five batters.
 
Elise LeBeouf • OF • Fr. • Houston • Crowley, La.
Had four hits and seven RBIs in four games played at the Hilton Houston Plaza Classic. LeBeouf went 2-for-2 with two home runs in the Cougars’ 4-3 win over Iowa State on Friday, and added her third-career home run against Toledo on Saturday.
