UConn's Rodney Purvis

The road to UConn ran through NC State for junior Rodney Purvis. The Raleigh native stayed in his home state and played for the Wolfpack in his freshman season, appearing in 35 games.

After sitting out the 2013-14 season after transferring to UConn, Purvis saw action in 33 games and ranked second on the team in points per game (11.6). The addition of  Purvis to the lineup brought big dividends to the UConn squad.

“He really helped us out. Just to have that athletic presence that he brings each and every day and his scoring ability, ” said head coach Kevin Ollie.

This year, Purvis ranks second on the team  with 13.0 points per game. While his scoring is a key part of the Huskies success it’s not the only thing that Coach Ollie counts on from the junior.

“I know he’s gonna bring a lot to this season and the most important thing he’s gonna bring is leadership,” said Ollie.
