PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the week-ending Feb. 28.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tyler Gnesda • Jr. • DH • UConn
Gnesda powered a UConn lineup that produced 56 hits and 56 runs in the Huskies’ 3-0 week at the Governors Challenge at Austin Peay. He hit .500 (7-for-14) with a double, two home runs and 11 RBIs in the three games, including a 2-for-4, five-RBI performance in a 12-4 win against No. 12 Missouri State. Gnesda, a transfer from Cypress College, is tied for the American Athletic Conference lead with 13 RBIs through two weeks of play.

Jacob Wolfe • Jr. • LHP • East Carolina
Wolfe delivered the series-clinching win in Game 2 of the Pirates’ three-game road trip at No. 4 Virginia to improve to 2-0 on the young season. Wolfe worked six complete innings and scattered four hits (all singles) while allowing one run (unearned) with two walks and two strikeouts. He induced 11 ground-outs against the Cavaliers, who won the 2015 NCAA championship. Wolfe has not allowed an earned run in 12.0 innings this season.

Worked seven shutout innings and allowed three hits with six strikeouts and one walk in a 4-0 win against SIU-Edwardsville as part of a 3-0 week.

Hit .500 (7-for-14) with a double, three home runs, five runs scored and seven RBIs in a 2-2 week. Went 3-for-4 with three RBIs in an 11-10 win against Arizona.
