UConn's Moriah Jefferson

UConn’s Moriah Jefferson is looking to make history. The senior already owns three National Championship rings and is hoping to take home her fourth and final title this season. Jefferson started in all 39 games for the Huskies in her junior season and ranked 4th on the team with 12.4 points per game, while leading her team with 1,121 minutes played. The growth from Jefferson has been easily identifiable, not only to fans and the media but also to herself going into her last season donning the Husky uniform.

“I have a lot of confidence going into this season knowing that if I have a bad game or a good game those guys will be able to support me no matter what,” said Jefferson. “I think when I came in as a freshman I had a lot of speed but I didn't know how to utilize that.”

Jefferson has found her name on many awards lists this in the 2015-16 season including Ann Myers Drysdale Award Midseason Watch list, Dawn Staley Midseason Watch list, Nancy Lieberman Award Top Ten candidate, Naismith Trophy Midseason 30 list, Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 list, and is a Senior CLASS Award finalist. The senior guard leads The American in assists and steals, and has helped position the Huskies as the favorite to win the big one, once again.

“Before you come in you have those dreams we’ve wanted to win four in a row and now that it is in reach, “said Jefferson. “It’s kind of surreal. It’s best to not think about it that much and when the time comes it will come.”
