PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s fifth weekly indoor track and field honors of the 2015-16 season, for the week ending Feb. 7.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Bryce Robinson • Jr. • Tulsa • Edmond, Okla.
Robinson has claimed Male Track Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season after winning two events at the Husker Invitational held at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Neb. The junior sprinter ran the 200 meter dash in 20.63; the best time in the conference and No. 3 in the NCAA this season. Robinson also tied his season-best time of 6.62 in the 60 meter dash, which is No. 2 in The American and tied for fifth in the NCAA. The product of Edmond, Okla., has earned three event titles in the 60 meter dash this season, in addition to two event titles in the 200 meter dash.

Bellamy has been selected as the Female Track Athlete of the Week after setting the top times in the American Athletic Conference in two events. On Friday, the junior won the 60 meter dash at the Crimson Elite in Cambridge, Mass. Her time of 7.36 in the event marked the No. 1 time in the conference this season, as well No. 22 in the NCAA. The next day, the Miami, Fla., native took second place in the 200 meter dash at the Scarlet and White Invitational in Boston. Bellamy ran the event in 23.78, which is the best time in The American and No. 32 in the NCAA this season. The UCF women’s squad took first place at both meets, out of a field of 10 teams on Friday and 26 teams on Saturday.

Oluwatosin Edwards • Sr. • UConn • Windsor, Conn.
Edwards has been named the Male Field Athlete of the Week after a third-place finish in the weight throw at the Sykes and Sabock Challenge Cup in State College, Pa. The senior posted a mark of 68’ 8”/20.93 meters, which is the top mark in the conference and No. 21 in the NCAA. The distance is a career best for the team captain, and a school record. Edwards helped the UConn men’s team accumulate 151 overall points for a second-place finish at the meet.

Annette Echikunwoke • So. • Cincinnati • Pickerington, Ohio
Echikunwoke has earned Female Field Athlete of the Week honors after two top-three finishes at The Armory Track Invitational in New York City. The sophomore took second in the shot put with a mark of 50’ 6.75”/15.41 meters, which is good for No. 3 in the conference. She also holds the No. 1 mark in The American in the event. The Pickerington, Ohio, native placed third in the weight throw, matching her season-best distance. Her mark of 67’ 1.5”/20.46 meters ranks No. 1 in the conference and No. 13 in the NCAA in the event. Echikunwoke aided the Bearcats to a sixth-place finish out of a field of 35 teams. The team collected 38 points overall, and earned the highest finish of the three American Athletic Conference women’s squads competing at the meet.
