PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the week-ending March 13.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hunter Hope • Jr. • IF • Tulane • Jupiter, Fla.
Hope led Tulane to a 4-1 week, which included a three-game sweep of Furman and a 5-3 win against No. 16 Louisiana. Hope hit safely in all five games, drove in at least one run in four of the five, and hit .412 (7-for-17) with a double, three home runs, six RBIs and seven runs scored during the week. Hope has hit safely in his last eight games and enters this week as the American Athletic Conference leader with five home runs in 2016.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Andrew Lantrip • Jr. • RHP • Houston • Livingston, Texas
Lantrip emerged on top in a pitchers’ duel against No. 23 Alabama as he helped the Cougars to a 3-1 victory in first game of the three-game series. He pitched into the ninth inning against the Crimson Tide and allowed six hits and one run while matching his career high with 13 strikeouts. Lantrip has struck out 32 batters against only one walk in 26.1 innings of work this season.

Worked seven shutout innings of two-hit relief with nine strikeouts to help USF to a 3-2 win against Holy Cross in 15 innings.
Emerson Gibbs • Sr. • RHP • Tulane • River Ridge, La.
Pitched a complete game shutout, allowing only two singles with nine strikeouts and a walk in an 8-0 victory against Furman to complete a series sweep.
