PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending March 13.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lee Ann Spivey • C/DP • Sr. • USF • Palm Coast, Fla.
Spivey has been chosen as Player of the Week after she went 10-for-18 at the plate for a .556 average on the week. She started seven of eight games, recording four extra base hits for a 1.167 slugging percentage. The senior hit three home runs in the span, reaching her 30
th career home run and putting herself just seven away from breaking the USF all-time home run record. Spivey also drove in a team-leading 12 RBIs on the week. To go with 10 hits, she drew three walks for a .591 on-base percentage. The Palm Coast, Fla., native had two multiple-hit performances and was the key component in an 8-6 win over USC Upstate, driving in five runs.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Erica Nunn • Sr. • USF • Apex, N.C.
Nunn has been named Pitcher of the Week after she went 4-0 in three starts and six appearances, while recording a 0.59 ERA to lead the pitching staff. She gave up only five runs with just two earned in 23.2 innings of work. The senior tallied 26 strikeouts and recorded a season-high six strikeouts twice. Against Winthrop, she threw a complete-game shutout. Nunn also hit in five games, including two that she was the starting pitcher. At the plate, the product of Apex, N.C., was 7-for-13 for a .538 average. She recorded a 1.077 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage. Nunn hit a home run in back-to-back games, and recorded six RBIs to go with three runs.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Courtney Rotton • 3B • So. • UCF • Clermont, Fla.
Turned in a team-high .417 batting average in UCF’s eight games this week. The Clermont, Fla., native went 5-for-7 at the plate on Saturday, including a 3-for-3 outing against Indiana State. Four of her 10 hits were for extra bases and she totaled seven RBIs. Rotton did not strike out once during the week.
Shelby Turnier • P • Sr. • UCF • Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Went 3-0 as she helped the Knights reach a season-best, 15-game winning streak, while making five appearances in the circle this week. Turnier’s third strikeout against Purdue on Saturday pushed her career total to 700. She became the third Knight to reach 700 career Ks, and moved within four of the second-most wins by a UCF pitcher.
Alyson Ambler • P/Util. • Sr. • UConn • Walla Walla, Wash.
Hit .500, with three multi-hit games as the Huskies went 3-1 over the weekend. Ambler had five RBIs as well as five runs. She recorded a three-run homer against St. John’s, and a solo home run against Hofstra.
Lydia Ritchie • P • Jr. • East Carolina • Pikeville, Tenn.
Compiled a 3-1 record with a 0.83 earned run average, a save and 39 strikeouts in 25.1 innings pitched in five total appearances. Ritchie tossed three complete games, including two shutouts, to increase her nation-leading total to six. The junior also eclipsed the 100-strikeout plateau for the season, as she now sits at 102.
Regan Hadley • C/3B • Fr. • Memphis • Georgetown, Ind.
Posted a .462 batting average and a 1.000 slugging percentage in a 4-1 week for Memphis. Hadley hit her first collegiate home run on Friday vs. Furman, and added another on Saturday against Coastal Carolina. She totaled seven RBIs on the week.
