Six American Athletic Conference teams find themselves at home, while two are on the road for some key nonconference weekend series.
The hottest team in The American is Cincinnati, which takes a five-game winning streak into its series against Northwestern at Marge Schott Stadium. The games will be played Saturday, Sunday and Monday as the Bearcats look to improve upon their 5-0 record at home this season.
Houston won a pair of midweek games earlier in the week, and the Cougars look to remain tough at home with a three-game set against Grand Canyon. Houston has won six of its last seven games, including last week’s series win at Alabama.
UConn scored a midweek win at USC, and the Huskies wrap up their West Coast swing with a three-game series at No. 21 UC Santa Barbara. It will be the first meetings between the teams as the Huskies’ look to dent the Gauchos’ 8-1 mark at home this season.
UCF dropped a midweek matchup against No. 5 Miami (Fla.), but the Knights look to bounce back with a three home games this weekend. UCF has matchups against Brown Friday and Sunday and a Saturday-afternoon contest against Bradley. The Knights are 8-2 at home this season.
USF has played five straight one-run games, and won four of those five, but looks to rebound from a 7-6 setback to North Florida earlier in the week. The Bulls welcome No. 25 Michigan State to Tampa for three games. USF is 6-1 all-time against the Spartans, dating to 1991.
Tulane has dropped its last two midweek games, but the Green Wave has registered sweeps of its last two weekend series heading into this weekend’s trip to Texas. The schools last played in Austin as part of the 1983 NCAA regionals.
East Carolina looks to snap a three-game slide as the Pirates host Monmouth for three games at Clark-LeClair Stadium. The Pirates hold a 19-3 series lead and have taken the last five meetings with the Hawks.
Memphis looks to string together back-to-back wins as the Tigers host Eastern Illinois at FedEx Park, capping a seven-game homestand. Memphis is 15-4 all-time against the Panthers after last year’s series sweep.
