SMU's Erasmus Earns All-America Honors at NCAA Championship

ATLANTA — SMU junior Marne Erasmus earned All-America honors in the 100-yard butterfly at the 2016 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship held at the McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech on Friday.
 
Erasmus swam to an 11th place finish with a time of 51.47 in the consolation final, improving on her preliminary time by more than half a second. The Mustangs have placed a swimmer in the top 16 of the 100 butterfly for three consecutive seasons.
 
SMU junior Tara-Lynn Nicholas, Cincinnati junior Jacqueline Keire and UConn junior Alexandra Butera also competed on Friday. Nicholas finished 21st in the 100-yard breaststroke preliminaries. Keire placed 21st in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.62. Butera took 46th in the preliminary round of the 3-meter diving competition.  Butera also turned in a 34th place finish in the 1-meter on Thursday.
