PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Houston senior Blair Hamilton was named the American Men's Golf Player of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Hamilton was the top finisher for Houston at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at the Floridian National Golf Club on Mar. 21-22. The senior led the Cougars with a 3-over 216 and shot a 68 in the second round. Houston finished seventh overall in a field of 15. All 15 teams were ranked in the Top 50.

- Senior Emerson Newsome was the Bearcats’ top performer at the Lone Star Invitational Mar. 20-22 in San Antonio, Texas…He finished tied for 12th (9-over 225) in the 100-player field.
- The Bearcats will compete at the Old Waverly Collegiate on Apr. 4-5 in West Point, Miss.
- Houston
- The Cougars tied for seventh at the Valspar Collegiate on Mar. 21-22…The field featured 10 of Golfstat’s Top 25 teams and four of the Top 10.
- Houston next travels to Augusta, Ga., for the 3M Augusta Invitational on Apr. 2-3.
- Memphis
- Lars van Meijel led the Tigers during action at the Valspar Collegiate in Palm City, Florida…Memphis placed 13th overall, ahead of No. 45 Georgia and No. 7 Florida.
- The Tigers return to action on Apr. 2 at the Vanderbilt Mason Rudolph Collegiate in Franklin, Tenn.
- USF
- Chase Koepka posted a Top 15 finish at the Valspar Collegiate on Mar. 22…The senior tied for 12th at 3-over and made four birdies in the final round.
- USF returns to the course at the 3M Augusta Invitational on Apr. 2-3.
- Temple
- Temple opened its spring campaign at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate on Mar. 20-22…Senior Brandon Matthews (220) was the Owls’ top performer during the three-day event.
- Temple will be in action next at the Furman Intercollegiate on Mar. 25-27.
- Tulsa
- Three Tulsa players carded under-par scores in final round action at the Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Arizona…Freshman Jack Knoesel carded a 6-under 210 to pace the Hurricane.
- Tulsa returns to the links next week, Mar. 28-29, at the Little Rock First Tee Classic.
