Auriemma is the 2016 WBCA NCAA Division I National Coach of the Year



UConn head coach Geno Auriemma was named the 2016 United States Marine Corps/WBCA NCAA Division I National Coach of the Year, as announced by the WBCA on Wednesday. This marks the sixth time Auriemma has won the award.

In his 31st year at the helm of the program, Auriemma has guided the Huskies to a 34-0 record. He was selected as the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for the third straight season as UConn went undefeated in regular-season play for the eighth time in the program’s history. Auriemma has led the Huskies to a record 10 national championships and will be seeking a record fourth consecutive NCAA title as the top-overall seed in the 2016 NCAA Women's Basketball Championship. UConn will face No. 5-seeded Mississippi State on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. ET in the third round of the tournament.
