It’s the final weekend of nonconference series of the season for American Athletic Conference teams, which look to add quality wins to their ledgers in advance of next week’s start of conference play.
Cincinnati takes an eight-game winning streak into a three-game series against Xavier. The first two games of the series will be played at the Bearcats’ Marge Schott Stadium, while Saturday’s series finale will be at Xavier’s Hayden Field.
Tulane looks for its fifth straight series win as the Green Wave hosts Illinois State for three games. The Green Wave scored a road win against Southern Miss in midweek action and has gone 9-3 in its last 12 contests.
East Carolina scored a midweek win against Duke — the Pirates’ 15th straight win against the Blue Devils — and looks to take advantage of a seven-game homestand, beginning with a three-game series against Jacksonville. East Carolina is hitting .307 as a team as six of the nine regular starters are at .300 or better this season.
Houston saw a five-game winning streak snapped in its midweek loss to Rice. The Cougars are 9-2 in their last 11 games, however, heading into a three-game series against George Washington.
UCF, USF and UConn are in action against teams from the Ivy League this weekend. The Knights host Cornell, while the Bulls entertain Dartmouth for three games. UConn will take to the road to face Columbia for three games in two days.
Memphis goes for its second straight series win as the Tigers visit Southern Illinois. Memphis took two of three from Eastern Illinois last weekend and hopes for similar success against the Salukis.
