Highlights
- UConn handed Memphis its first loss in American Athletic Conference action with a 6-0 shutout on Friday, March 25 at Tigers Softball Complex in Memphis, Tenn.
- Junior RHP Kayla Doty (3-1) pitched her third complete-game victory of the season, allowing five hits and one walk.
- Alyson Ambler went 3-for-4 with two RBI's, while Lexi Gifford was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI's.
- Regan Hadley and Tyler Johnson each went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Tigers, in the first shutout against Memphis this season.
- Christian Novak – in her third game back from back surgery – picked up the loss, falling to 1-2 on the season. She gave up four hits and two earned runs in 1.1 innings. Calli Irvin pitched the final 5.2 innings, striking out one and giving up four runs and five hits.
- With an 11-3 victory over the East Carolina, RV/RV USF set the school record for consecutive wins with 20. The previous best of 19 was set in 2012 by the program’s first Women’s College World Series team.
- The Bulls also sealed a series win over the Pirates after picking up a 3-1 win on Thursday night to open the series. USF is now 2-0 in conference play.
- Susan Wysocki picked up the win, throwing 3.1 innings of relief. Four different pitchers combined to throw eight strikeouts and give up just three runs on six hits.
- The Bulls' offense was highlighted by Erica Nunn, Lauren Evans and Monica Santos, who combined to go 6-for-9 at the plate with five runs.
- Sophomore third baseman Karlie Smith led the Pirate offense with two hits, while senior catcher Kelsi Briggs notched two RBIs on the strength of her second home run of the campaign.
- Freshman RHP Mary Williams (3-6) surrendered 10 runs (six earned) on 12 hits in six innings pitched with a walk and three strikeouts. Classmate and RHP Morgan Halo made her first collegiate appearance in the circle, giving up the game's final run in the top of the seventh inning.
- Houston evened its series with Tulsa at 1-1 with a 2-1 win on Friday, marking the first American Athletic Conference victory of the season.
- Senior LHP Julana Shrum threw 5.2 innings, didn’t allow an earned run and struck out two. Junior RHP Shelby Miller came in relief and threw a perfect 1.1 innings.
- Offensively, senior Katie St. Pierre knocked two singles and drove in the Cougars two runs of the game. She also recorded her 11th stolen base of the season and 56th of her career. St. Pierre is just five away from tying the program's stolen base career record, and is seven away from her season high.
- Tulsa's senior catcher Catherine Horner went 2-for-3 at the plate. Junior third baseman Maggie Withee scored the team's lone run.
- Sophomore Emily Watson (7-5) struck out nine Houston batters, and allowed two runs on five hits.
