PHILADELPHIA. – Temple advanced to the quarterfinals of the WNIT for the second consecutive year with a 75-61 win against Ohio on Thursday night at McGonigle Hall. The Owls will travel to Michigan for a 7 p.m. ET contest at Crisler Center on Monday.
Junior Feyonda Fitzgerald led four Temple (23-11) players in double figures as she finished with 22 points and a game-high six assists. Sophomore Aliya Butts scored 18 points, Donnaizha Fountain added 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Tanaya Atkinson chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds.
Ohio (26-7) was led by Quiera Lampkins’ 20 points and four assists, while Yamonie Jenkins recorded 12 points and five assists and two steals.
The Owls jumped out to 27-11 lead after the first quarter and remained in control for the duration of the contest. The Temple defense limited Ohio to 3-of-21 shooting from behind the arc and held a 44-32 advantage on the glass.
